STEVE
GUASCH Y SU ORQUESTA NUEVA ERA Siguiendo
La Tradición (Salsaneo Records)
Blending a
repertoire of original salsa scores with
Latin jazz covers of classic jazz
standards is the formula of the Seattle,
Washington-based band Orquesta Nueva
Era. Led by percussionist Steve Guasch,
the banal shows many faces via
arrangements from Oscar Hernández, Ray
Santos, Ignacio Herrera, Lee Bradford,
and the group's pianist, Julio Jáuregui.
The band swings non-stop to the tropical
rhythms of Puerto Rico and Cuba as well
as to the jazzier and popular
compositions of Miles Davis and
Hammerstein. Eddie Quintero and Danny
Olaizola front the band on vocals. Guest
musicians on this recording include
Paoli Mejias (percussion), composer of
the opening track Aquí Te Traigo
Sabrosura, plus Ignacio Herrera (piano),
composer of the track Haciendo Camino,
who is credited with arrangements.
Trumpeter Ray Vega lays some tasty solos
on several tracks. Guasch displays his
percussive talents throughout the entire
recording and so does Julio Jáuregui on
piano and bass. Favorites include the
jibaro sounds of Mi Lindo Puerto Rico,
Haciendo Camino, Aquí te Traigo
Sabrosura, and Charlie the Giant. (RM)

I received your CD yesterday and I have
listened to it very carefully; regarding the composition of the
musicians I am not sure if the artists are from Puerto Rico or
Cuba with some american musicians? One has to give credit to the
sound engineers and mixers, because they have achieve a well
balanced sound and there is no more left, except than
appreciating it and enjoying each and every one of the
instruments. Now I have new songs and the terrific sound of
Orquesta Nueva Era, and I am sure my listeners will enjoy the
Puerto Rican Salsa and refined Latin Jazz your band offers, but
besides that I am sure I can have the public dancing when I dj
latin music all over Ireland. It's hard to say which song is my
favourite because each of them is a new tale, a new message, and
a new proposal; but I will go for "Busquenla", with the lead
vocal of Eddie Quintero. Great dialogue between the trombone and
trumpet.

realidad lograste seguir nuestra tradición, nuestra cultura y
nuestra historia. El CD esta super. Esta lleno de ritmo, energía,
sabor y sobre todo cadencia musical. WOW!! Eddie y Danny tienen
tremendo soneo.
Traigo Sabrosura" y "Mi Lindo Puerto Rico". Tremendos coros.
Adelante Bro!

Steve Guasch y su Orquesta Nueva Era's new
CD "Siguiendo la Tradicion" carries a welcome sound reminicent
of the Golden Era of Salsa, Latin Jazz as well as Jazz! "Sabrosura"
and "Haciendo Camino" take the listeners right into a classical
"my-feet-want-to-dance-salsa" feeling. The "Charlie the Giant"
track is a great new rhythmic piece, with a sophisticated
quality to its composure. "Mi Lindo Puerto Rico" is one of the
greatest tunes, containing a riveting, exciting dose of a
vocal/instrumental mix, with a true native Nuyorican salsa
twang. "South of the Boulevard" is a jazzy tune, placing any
Salsa/Latin Jazz/Jazz fan right into the heart of New York City.
Other quality tracks are "Solar", with its appealing saxophone
solo, as well as the big band sound of "Softly". Verdict: Thumbs
up, highly recommended!

Introducing "Steve Guasch y
Orquesta Nueva Era"
Debut CD: "Siguiendo La Tradicion"
Rich, Raw & Rivoting! Feel that bold brass as your thrust into a
state of Salsa that leaves you quite breathless! This CD has
instantly become one of my favorites. What a way to start 2006
with original titles such as Mi Lindo Puerto Rico which
literally brought me to tears. A simply "must have" to anyone's
collection.

) -8 e 9 ; Salsa/Latin Jazz nella track 5; Latin/Mambo: track 4;
Latin/Descarga: track 7 e puro Latin nelle tracks 10 ('Solar' by
Miles Davis ) e 11.
peraltro disponibile l'ascolto di tuuto l' album su
http://www.vinilemania.net/vSTEVEGUASCH.htm
, cosi' come nel portale dell' Orquesta Nueva Era (
http://www.nuevaeramusic.com/nuevaera/
info biografica . L' album e' comunque distribuito in Italia -
tra gli altri - da
www.cdlatino.it
( Torino )-www.gilasrecords.it
(Roma)-
http://mastermind.ballilatini.it/shop/
(Bologna ) .
...'' A mi querido Puerto Rico y a Ti !Boricua! te invito a
